Introduction
I just got this invitation from bla@atrain.com to give a person feedback by replying to the email. What is this all about?
People who use the development loop feature of the Breakthrough Leadership App (BLA) send requests for open-ended feedback via bla@atrain.com.
This request should include:
- the person’s name,
- the behavior they are working on as part of their development
- a personal message that provides you with more information about the feedback they are seeking.
As background, the BLA is a personal development tool that supports people in collecting feedback and making real changes in their behavior at work.
The way people behave at work is a complex result of a person’s beliefs, values, experiences, and learnings.
In the BLA, effective, “breakthrough” behaviors are those a person consciously decides to apply.
Ineffective, damaging behaviors are almost automatic, prompted by fears we may not even be consciously aware of.
You may have received an invitation to comment on an effective behavior, something a person wants to do MORE.
This is called an enabler.
Alternatively, you may have received an invitation to comment on an ineffective behavior, something a person wants to do LESS.
This is called a blocker.
In both cases, consider recent situations at work with the person and the degree to which you saw the behavior in question.
If you are unsure about what situation(s) you should be considering, check with the person directly.
