Who is Simone?

Simone Bellisario is a Solution designer and member of the Design Team.

He’s been working at atrain since 2019. Simone is 29 years old, Italian, and has a background in Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology. Before joining atrain, he worked as IT Recruiter and then as a consultant in psychometric assessment.

Simone is passionate about cooking, psychology and studying languages. When he is not working or reading, he likes to spend his time hiking or running.

What surprised you the most, hopefully in a positive way, when you started working at atrain?

I was really surprised by how your contribution is taken into account regardless of how long you have been in the company. You can find yourself working on a high-impact project very early on in your journey at atrain and still be able to make yourself heard when it comes to shaping the solutions we create for our customers.


 

What are your specific skills, areas of expertise and which aspects of our business do you like to focus on most?

I like to focus mostly on organizational design and system transformation projects. I am really passionate about helping organizations in evolving their structure to adapt to customers’ needs and enable their people to achieve their full potential. The thing that I love in this area is that it allows me to distil and apply insights coming not only from organizational psychology but also from design thinking and from the observation of progressive organizational models coming from many different industries.

MBT

At atrain we are approaching strategic execution in a self-organized, bottom-up way. We build teams around strategic priorities based on personal interest, skillset and mindset and enable those teams to execute self-sufficient and without hierarchy, setting their own goals and defining their own ways of working. These Mission Based Teams (MBTs) are founded to achieve a mission (strategic priority) and are dissolved as soon as it is reached. Participation is completely voluntarily and self-driven. By involving colleagues in strategic priorities, who have a clear passion and interest for the topic, instead of a manager assigning tasks without the necessary context, we strongly believe that we can create a much bigger value for our strategic objectives.

At atrain we are structured according to the Self Organized Teams and Mission-Based Teams model, can you tell us something about your specific experience and how this type of organisation reflects on your work?

In a nutshell, in our teams, we have to make most of the decisions that would be normally made by a line manager in a more “traditional” organizational setup. Sometimes it gets challenging, but I believe that this level of empowerment really accelerates your growth.

Sometimes working life can be challenging, if you are in a difficult moment how do you find the support you need?

As Professor Dumbledore once said: “Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it”. From this point of view, atrain is kinda like Hogwarts… often if you find yourself in a difficult situation, all it takes is to get out of the “tunnel view” and reach out to your team for help, be it support you in a task, debrief after a difficult meeting or simply put things into perspective when projects get very complex.


 

What makes working at atrain amazing?

Definitely the level of trust and safety among people. atrain is the kind of workplace where you can bring your full self and where you can show vulnerability, knowing that you will always be accepted and understood by others.
