Ranja is amazing!


Who is Ranja?

Ranja Salamy is 29 years old and is a Program Coordinator at the German office.

“I love drawing, taking long walks in nature, cooking and baking and watching and re-watching all the Disney films.”

In addition to her personal interests, Ranja has a strong background in Tourism and Events Management and has spent 4 of the last 5 years in Lisbon working as a trainer and training coordinator mainly in the tourism industry.

“When I was 17, I had the chance to spend 12 months in India on a student exchange program.
It was a year that changed my life!
I learned to see the positive aspects in everything that happens around me, drawing energies even from events that may seem extremely negative.”

Let’s start!


Hello Rani, before we start, would you tell us what’s your favourite Disney movie?

OMG, this is the hardest question of all time… I can name three: Big Hero6 since I am a huge fan of Baymax, Mulan and Mighty Joe Young.

Okay, after the difficult ones let’s start with the easy questions. 😊
What surprised you the most, hopefully in a positive way, when you started working at atrain?

From the very first day, I immediately found incredible support from all the colleagues I interacted with and they all showed sincere confidence in my skills.
It doesn’t happen everywhere… 😊


 

You’ve been at atrain five months now, how has the experience been so far?

I immediately realised that ‘impossible’ is a term that does not exist in atrain’s vocabulary. “I can do it” is certainly one of the concepts that best describes the spirit of the company.

Moreover, from a more personal point of view, I have never felt like the ‘new’, the ‘latecomer’. A company culture that is so open and super welcoming is a real plus and helps you settle in quickly.

Another thing worth mentioning is that from day one you are given a lot of concrete opportunities to be part of atrain and to grow quickly.


 

You are a Program Coordinator, what are the most engaging and enjoyable moments/tasks of your role?

The SOT (Self Organised Team) to which I belong is moving away from the typical role-based distribution of tasks. The focus is on the individuals and their choices/inclinations (whoever wants to, can do it) in an atmosphere of collaboration and co-creation. Personally, the tasks I like the most are creative brainstorming and, at the same time, more structured data-driven aspects such as invoicing, project monitoring and follow-up to ensure accuracy.

Sometimes working life can be challenging, if you are in a difficult moment how do you find the support you need?

My teammates always give me the support I need. I constantly feel in a safe environment where I can ask for support, advice and help. Even when it comes to contacting colleagues who are not part of my team and with whom I may never have interacted, I feel comfortable doing so.


 

What makes your daily work-life special?

It may sound strange, but I guarantee you that here in atrain work does not feel like work – it is fun, fulfilling and challenging at the same time!


 

What makes working at atrain amazing?

People!!!
I have worked with great people before, but I have never seen a company full of outstanding people! My team is a huge tank of motivation and energy. But in general, atrain is a place full of true talents.
