Nathalie is amazing!
Who is Nathalie?
Nathalie Hoehn is a Junior Consultant and member of the Design Team.
She is really at the beginning of her journey in atrain having started last October.
Nathalie is 27 years old, German and has a background in International Business.
She already had significant work experience and has travelled for over a year between Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia:
“I bought a little yellow Beetle and did Work & Travel around Australia for 10 months and travelled afterwards to New Zealand, Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and India before the coronavirus came and I had to leave the Country on the last flight back home.
During my travels, I learned a lot about myself & spirituality. I studied yoga and meditation in Buddhist monasteries in Thailand and yoga retreats in India and I was living in communities around the world where I learned about a sustainable lifestyle and growing your own food.”
In addition to her travelling spirit, Nathalie is genuinely passionate about health, psychology and sports. A runner, hiker and cyclist, when she is not working or training she likes to spend her time reading or walking with her dog.
"The team spirit, the supportive
colleagues and work environment
make working at atrain so special."
Let’s start!
Hello Nathalie after this brief introduction we can move on to the questions we have drafted for you, ready?
Of course, let’s go!
What surprised you the most, hopefully in a positive way, when you started working at atrain?
The great people! I was super surprised that people here are so friendly, helpful and self-reflective. And the great feedback culture that we have at atrain!
What was your experience in your first six months working at atrain?
Due to this new situation of Corona, I only could work one week in the office before the second lockdown in autumn arrived. This was a very special situation for me since I never started a new job in this way and had a remote onboarding and home-office work life.
But even through this special situation, I felt very connected to the team from early on and we also could catch up via virtual lunches or after-work happy hours.
Of course, in the beginning, there was a lot of new things to learn for me and it could be a bit overwhelming from time to time, but I always had someone that I could go to if I had questions.
You referred to the onboarding process, we strongly believe in its importance, what has been your experience with it?
The onboarding process at atrain was very structured from the beginning on, and also very much supported from the HR side. There were regular check-ins from HR and the gardener, as well as I got a mentor assigned from within the team, who was great. I always had the opportunity to ask questions. I was provided with feedback on a regular basis in a two-way process as I could also give feedback to the team and share my impressions.

Gardener
Our teams at atrain organize themselves, are empowered to take far-reaching decisions and thus we do not have team leaders and little other hierarchy in the organization.
The Gardener fills a role that is there to enable and coach both the self-organizing teams and each individual in the teams on this journey.
Additionally, the Gardener supports the teams and the wider company to create the right ecosystem and culture that powers this model and allows people to realize their full potential.

Sometimes working life can be challenging, if you are in a difficult moment how do you find the support you need?
Here at atrain, it is very easy to get support since everybody is so open and caring. Of course, sometimes you have to be proactive and ask for support but there is a strong team spirit in the design team.
What makes your daily work-life special?
The flexibility that I have with working remotely. Sometimes, when the weather is nice, I also go for a walk during the day and start/finish earlier or later depending on my personal schedule and preference. As well as having regular check-ins / catch up with my team members even though working from home.
What makes working at atrain amazing?
It is a mix between having the right values and mindset in the company (really caring about people, flexibility, openness etc.) and also having super great and supportive colleagues, which can also become friends. I also enjoy the diversity of working with people from different parts of the world and with international customers. There is always something new to learn and it never gets boring!
